Payroll month by month: GOSI, WPS through Mudad, and the ten dates that matter

5 min read · Updated

1. Day 20: cut-off

Fix a cut-off day. After it, every change for this month is written down: new joiners and their start dates, leavers and last days, overtime hours approved by a manager, absences and lateness from the attendance log, leave taken, loans agreed in writing.

2. Day 22: GOSI changes

Register new employees on GOSI from their start date and remove leavers with their last working day; update any wage change. Contributions are calculated on basic plus housing: the Saudi employee's share is deducted from the wage, the employer pays its share plus the occupational-hazards share for everyone. Late registration costs fines and back-contributions.

3. Day 24: calculate and check the deductions

Run each employee through the calculator: overtime at the hourly wage plus half the basic hourly wage (Art 107), unpaid days, sick-leave tiers (Art 117), then the deductions with their ceilings. A fine needs the notice-and-investigation procedure first (Art 71); a loan instalment above 10% needs a signed consent (Art 92); everything together may not exceed half the wage due (Art 93).

4. Day 26: the owner approves

One sheet: name, gross, each addition, each deduction with its reason, net. The owner signs it. Any deduction the employee has not been told about in writing is a dispute waiting to happen; give each affected employee the printed deduction notice.

5. Day 27: bank file and Mudad

Prepare the salary file in your bank's format and upload it; the bank pays into each employee's IBAN. Mudad reads the payments and reports your wage-protection compliance; low compliance blocks Qiwa services. Pay by the last day of the month at the latest (monthly wage, Art 90).

6. Day 1: file and fix

File the signed sheet, the bank confirmation and the Mudad report together. One failed transfer is normal: wrong IBAN, closed account. Fix it the same day and keep the proof; a late salary is a grievance ground under Art 81.
